Two things I am a huge fan of – cookbooks and the “Great British Bake Off” show on Netflix. One of my favorite participants and also season one winner is Nadiya Hussain (but seriously, I love all the contestants from every season because they are all so talented and inspiring and so incredibly nice to one another even though it is a competition!)

Nadiya has a few of her own cooking shows on Netflix and her current one “Nadiya Bakes” is also now a cookbook. The American version of this cookbook was just released last week.

The first thing I do with every new cookbook when I receive it is to slowly look through every page and recipe. Then I usually mark the pages of the recipes I want to make first. Because of the “Nadiya Bakes” show, I already had a couple of recipes in mind I knew I wanted to try and this pepperoni pull apart was one.

For the American-converted recipe found in the cookbook, go HERE.

One of the features I immediately loved about this cookbook is all the savory recipes. When I think of a baking cookbook I typically think dessert and sweet but I am so happy to have some savory baking recipes to try with this cookbook!

Sundays at our house are sometimes very peaceful, restful, and other times very busy, getting prepared for the week ahead. This past Sunday was a little bit of both. Our oldest nephew and his new wife were in town visiting my brother and his wife so we met them all out for lunch. Even though my brother and his wife live relatively close, we do not get together often. This was an especially nice treat – to get together and catch up with everyone, especially the newlyweds whom we haven’t seen since the wedding this past April.

The rest of the day was spent labeling school supplies and getting Samantha ready for her first day of school on Monday.

For dinner, I wanted something a little more fun than maybe our typical meals and landed on chicken wings with carrots and celery, a simple salad using our own hydroponic lettuce as well as the first cucumbers and cherry tomatoes from our garden, along with this pepperoni pull apart.

The dough was simple to make using my KitchenAid stand mixer and dough hook. While the dough was rising in its various stages, I prepped the veggies and the wings.

The basil in our garden is doing amazing this year so I was happy to use some nice big green leaves from our sweet basil plant for the pepperoni pull apart.

The recipe calls for sriracha or tomato sauce of choice and I went with our favorite Rao’s pizza sauce since the girls typically don’t care for anything too spicy. I also used both provolone and mozzarella cheese, alternating between each “slice.”

This was a fun recipe to make, so pretty when finished and incredibly delicious. A huge hit with everyone! It makes for perfect party food, whether for the big game or birthday or even when you want to change up pizza night!
