I took this photo the 3rd – maybe 4th – time I had to walk downstairs to handle a computer/school/remote learning-related issue for the girls this morning. I lost track of how many times total I had to make the trip.

Their desks are downstairs in the office. My work area is upstairs.

I hear “mom!!” quite a few times a day but the last three days most of the time it is to help figure out a computer problem.

So basically, like so many parents right now, I have a new job as the IT department for our household.

Gabby decided the driveway was a good place for PE today. Also, apparently the new gym uniform includes jeans with shoes optional. Not the best choices in my opinion.

I had to record a song with Samantha today for music. I really should send the music teacher an apology for having to listen to that duet.

Also, this afternoon Ed called me with “bad news.” He forwarded me an email while on the phone and all he would say is he was really sorry.

He had me worried – really worried.

The hairdryer he gave me for Christmas was recalled.

That was the bad news – a recalled hairdryer.

In his defense, had this happened six weeks ago my reaction would have been much, much different.

I would have been upset. I would have been annoyed. I would have probably complained quite a bit and moaned on and on about having to buy a new hair dryer and what would I do until I found another one I liked.

I’m not proud to admit it but honestly, I would have probably been a brat to the news of my hairdryer being recalled just a few short weeks ago…

But life is very different now and man, my perspective and priorities have changed – definitely for the better.

Rule of Life

I pray daily for God’s healing for the world right now, for the coronavirus to just disappear, to be gone, but in the meantime, I want to live out this line:

The Opportunity of Disruption – We want to use this moment of disruption to grow deeper as apprentices of Jesus.

Rule of Life, Bridgetown Church

And that certainly means not sweating the small stuff like recalled hair dryers.
